Frederic W. Corle II

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Frederic Corle II is a business development executive experienced in identifying and developing strategic procurement opportunities for clients in the Federal marketplace.  He has extensive experience developing Federal program capture strategies to successfully bid large Federal procurement programs.

His unique ability to resolve complex problems for corporations created by policy decisions, legislation and/or regulatory actions has resulted in significant Federal government business for past clients and now Northport.  Fred has served in the Executive Branch of government at the White House and the U.S. Department of the Interior in President Reagan’s administration; at the Executive Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget; and at the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency following Hurricane Katrina.  In the Legislative Branch, Fred served on the House Budget Committee, U.S. House of Representatives.


From 1996 until 2005, Mr. Corle founded and served as President, Spatial Technologies Industry Association (STIA), testifying before Congress on behalf of the Association's members.  The association supported the industry’s presence in the public sector to better address policy issues, legislation, and regulatory actions that limited individual company’s market potential.  Over 100 companies, including 10 of the top 15 defense contractors participated in the association’s activities.  The Association hosted the GEO-INTEL 2003 Conference in New Orleans, LA featuring the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) then under the leadership of General James Clapper, formerly Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

From 1980 to 1988 he represented President Reagan on over 20 international and domestic White House and campaign events.  He was a technology advisor to Senator Robert J. Dole's 1988 and 1996 Presidential Campaigns.

He is a former U.S. Naval Officer whose service included duty as Assistant Supply Officer on the Guided Missile Cruiser Belknap (CLG-26).  Mr. Corle received his BA degree in economics from Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio and MBA degree in Finance from the  University of Denver .

Richard A. Shaw

Vice President, Operations

Proven leader, change agent, team builder, expert in process and performance improvement, contracting, business analytics, technology integration, knowledge management, and strategic planning.  Rick currently serves as Vice President, Northport Affiliates, LLC in the development, evaluation, analysis, and implementation of strategies for private sector and government organizations.

Mr. Shaw provides expert counsel, advice, and guidance to senior level executives in solving complex challenges across a broad spectrum of areas to include leader influence within organizations; construction and implementation of organization-wide initiatives and programs; mass collaboration; knowledge management; organizational and social change; program justification, audit, and funding; and performance measurement and optimization.

He has served in the private sector as a consultant, senior program executive, and senior program manager -- leading, developing, and managing programs and services to the federal government.

As military officer, he served in a wide-range of assignments from infantry, budget analyst, operations research, procurement, Six Sigma Black Belt, and as a principal advisor to several Presidentially-appointed officials within the Department of Defense and civilian federal government agencies, working across a diverse range of issues and challenges.

Mr. Shaw has been instrumental in supporting the Army’s pioneering efforts to make bold reductions in military sexual assaults -- building the contractor support team and strategy to educate and train Army Soldiers and civilians around the world, as well as, supporting the development of critical policy, guidance, budget justification, benefit cost analyses, manpower planning, and tools for carrying-out the Army’s efforts.

Mr. Shaw has lead, developed, and built programs and teams to carry-out initiatives to reduce military expenditures in programs up to $1B in size; applying Six Sigma performance optimization strategies; developing manpower contingency plans; advising and guiding change management within federal government agencies and the private sector; and assisting in the restructuring of large-scale procurement initiatives, measures, and metrics for multiple agencies of the federal government.

Mr. Shaw received his BS Degree in Administrative Justice and his MS Degree in Technology Management from George Mason University and is a graduate of the Army Logistics Management Course.

Daniel B. Denning

Vice President

Dan Denning currently serves as Vice President of Northport LLC.   He specializes in organizational development, change management, strategic planning and innovative program initiatives to improve delivery of government services.  A proven leader of both large, complex government organizations’ projects as well as business organizations.

Dan specializes in US Army and Veterans Administration programs related to military and civilian Human Capital, Army manpower and force structure, National Guard and  Army Reserve programs, the Military Health System and veterans benefit programs.  Denning served as an Executive Advisor with Booz, Allen, Hamilton and before, Denning was with The Spectrum Group as a consultant specializing in U.S. Department of Defense and related national security agencies.

From 2002 to 2005, he served concurrently as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Training, Readiness and Mobilization.  In 2005, Mr. Denning was appointed as Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.  In this capacity, he was responsible for overall supervision of the functions of the Department of the Army relating to Army Recruiting and Retention policy, health affairs including oversight of Army Medical Command, Army training, readiness and mobilization as well as all issues pertaining to the Army National Guard and Army Reserve including mobilization and deployment of reserve forces in support of operational missions.  In addition, he was responsible for liaison with the Office of Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness on all matters affecting the personnel and readiness of the Army including the military medical system, TRICARE, disability rating systems and civilian and military personnel, training and education.

Dan Denning’s awards for civilian service to the US government include:  The Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, the Department of the Army Medal for Distinguished Civilian Service, The Department of Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Selective Service System Silver Medal.

He received his BA degree from Indiana University and his MPA degree from the American University.
